I had a friend Thought she was really neat She met a cooler friend At least that's the word on the street And now it's like I never see her out At all the places We used to go I guess she's found cooler places to be I had a friend Thought she was really super She met a cooler friend Now I never hear from her And when I run into her She acts out of it And seems to be somewhere else I believe she's found a whole new scene But where did she go? Have you seen her around? Where did she go? I fear she's only going down I guess she's found a whole new person to be

Used to wake up early in the morning With the promises of time that was to spent Bu away it went To where, I don't know So it just goes to show As far as I'm concerned There's much left to be learned But I'll still dream my dream And I'll still put me first And that's fine by me (by me) And that's fine by me It's the Leonard Cohen cryptic lyrics That he writes about me, with his cynical tone I guess that's his own way To even the score Now he keeps me in a drawer beside his bed Where he rests his head And he dreams his dreams But they're of her instead And that's fine by me (by me) And that's fine by me (try me) It's the bouncing back and forth That makes everything seem so short-handed All of the time I'm always in a bind It never seems to end And I just need a friend who understands That I might need a hand To help me keep my dream Whenever I change plans And that's fine by me (by me) And that's fine by me (try me)

I wanna' be beautiful and desirable I wanna' be a rockstar and a glamour girl I wanna' dye my hair as blonde as a sunbeam That's the young bombshell's dream Look at me baby (look at me) I'm better than you Yeah, I'm the best baby (I'm the best) And you'd like to be like me too Yeah I wanna' be the center of everyone's attention I wanna' have a larger chest and be a Barbie-like sensation I wanna' be on the cover of every magazine That's the young bombshell's dream Look at me baby (look at me) I'm bigger than you Yeah, I'm the best baby (I'm the best) And you'd like to have me too Because I'm your shining golden fantasy I'm you're shining golden fallacy I'm the bomb I'm your shining golden fantasy I'm your shining golden fantsy I'm blonde

I'm writing you this letter Knowing it will make me feel better Forgiving you Is the hardest thing I've had to do Believe me when I say that this Is not for your benefit I had to be the first one to take action There's no greater satisfaction I've realized You pulled the wool over my eyes Believe me when I say Your kiss is something I do not miss Some say the distance got too tough Some say you didn't love me enough And still you said there's only me to blame It's enough to make a person go insane I'm sending you this message It's a way for me to end it It's great to see you didn't take one thing from me So believe that I forgive you That's all And please don't ever try to call 'Cause I don't wanna' talk So don't try to call Don't try to call

Walking out in a glittered rage They'll idolize the way you play The kids head frantically for the stage They're star-struck, and they'll be for days But we've all been there And sometimes I even go there now And sometimes even you go back I don't know why, do you know why we go back? I don't know why, do you know why? Shouting out in a glittered rage You, in your rockstar intangible cage The kids run around in a daze For many of them it's just a phase

I've been thinking way, way too much Put myself in a retrospective mood I've been thinking so, so much more Than I ever, ever, ever should Put it all away Thinking all about the big Mistakes I'll repeat with no clue I think all about the year ahead And just how I'm gonna' make it through And I've got to put it all away And sleep it off I've been drinking way, way too much Put myself in a meditative mood I've been sinking away to a place Where you'll never find me, but you know you should Once again I'm faced with those very same two options I try to change it But then I'll welcome it in Because it's so much easier Yeah
7.
Walking around Fiesta parade I think I've got a little game that we could play It's a game of truth And it's your turn What is it you wanna' know about my past, my present, my future? Have you had enough? Batter up Don't be scared I won't judge your youth I just want some answers, I just want the truth Don't be afraid I just want the facts It's not true what they say, when they say curiosity killed the cat Hey batter batter Hey hey batter batter swing I've thrown you a curveball Now swing
8.
I'm out I'm not down Because where I come from less is more Please don't bring me down to where you are I've been there too many times before You're not going to be You're not going to be No baby, you're not going to be the one The one I'm thinking of You know what you're doing And you know just how to make it stop And I know in the meantime I think and you'll drink and I'll cry a lot But you're not going to be You're not going to be No honey, you're not going to be the one The one I'm crying for You're not going to be You're not going to be No gorgeous, you're not going to be the one The one I'm dreaming of My dream is better than this My dream is higher than this My dream is bigger than this My dream is brighter

I haven't really known him all too long But he just makes me wanna' write a cheesy pop song Never much believed in fate But as far as I'm concerned, he's my soul mate Things are going so fast for me, yeah yeah But he just makes me so happy, yeah yeah I guess it's safe to say that I'm a freak To think I'd fall in love in just a week He's the only thing on my mind And I could stare at him until I go blind He tells me that he feels the same I guess we just have our foolish hearts to blame
10.
Come Come and question Come question my success My new failure, my new dress I'm so fed up You You confuse Hey hey, you confuse me 'Cause on top is where you'll always be Look me over Just like the others Push me over Or run for cover Fake like I'm gonna' take Like I'm gonna' take you down We'll see how fast it spreads through this town Now

Sitting in your basement You've got some cleaning up to do You wonder why nobody ever Tried to let light through It's going to take a lot of work And you know it's going to take a lot of hurt In your little made-up fantasy world Lying in your locked up box You've got some breaking out to do You wonder why nobody ever Tries to break on through It's going to take a lot of work And you know it's going to take a lot of hurt In your little made up fantasy world "Hey kid, you're gonna' be alright You know you're gonna' be Hey kid, you're gonna' be alright And you know it's true, coming from me Hey kid, you're gonna' be alright Just listen, here's what to do Hey kid, you're gonna' be alright" She said, "Be good, be good" Standing in your long hallway You've got some choosing to do And you never needed anybody to tell you Which door to go through It's going to take a lot of work And you know it's going to take a lot of hurt "Hey kid, you're gonna' be alright You know you're gonna' be Hey kid, you're gonna' be alright And you know it's true, coming from me Hey kid, you're gonna' be alright Just listen, here's what to do Hey kid, you're gonna' be alright" She said, "Be good, be good"

about

Sara Radle's first solo record. These songs were initially only recorded to satisfy a curiosity. Sara had just learned to play drums, and had a group of songs that didn't fit in with her pop/punk group at the time, Lucy Loves Schroeder. She went into the studio and recorded these songs, playing all of the instruments, and layering multiple vocal harmonies on top of it. She's Gone Records heard these demos, and they heard a record they wanted to release. Sara returned to the studio, recorded a few more tunes (her brother, Gabriel, added violin on one track), and completed the group of recordings that would become "jellybeanswithbellybuttons", released in December of 2000.
